Last week-end was Nyepi day, the silence day, the Balinese New Year. Nobody in Bali can go out on this day, no light on, no TV, it’s a day where no noises can escapes of the houses because according to balinese beliefs, demons could be tempted to come down to haunt humans.

For this day of silence, a lot of people doesn’t want to stay in Bali because we can’t moove anywhere during 24 hours so it’s frustrating when you want to enjoy your holidays. So people choose to go in Gili islands where Nyepi is not celebrating because they are a part of the island of Lombok. There are 3 Gili islands, Trawangan, Meno and Air and during Nyepi It’s Gili Trawangan where most of poeple go because it’s for « partying ».

Throughout the year, Gili Trawangan is a well known destination to make party, there are a lot of bars, restaurants and lovely beaches. It’s in a festive atmosphere thaht during 3 days, Gili T hosts so many tourists from around the world. Bars on the main street are full, everyone dance in streets, in barss, in the beach…It’s full of life and meetings, in a friendly atmosphere and everybody is in a good mood.

Dunring the day, you can do some tours, take a boat which will take you to snorkel around the 3 islands. You will see turtles and reefs with multicoloured fishes. You can also just relax on the beach, the water is so clear it’s absolutely amazing. You can rent some bikes to go around the island, it’s a very small island so it’s really easy. At the end of the day, you have to go at the west of the island to see the sunset, a lot of beach bars put bean bags on to allow to admire the show with a direct view on Mount Agung with beautiful colours in the sky, it’s extraordinary !
