This weekend my group of friends and I wanted to change a little bit from the island of Bali and we went to Nusa Penida, a little piece of paradise only 30/40 minutes by boat from Bali.
Many tourists describe Nusa Penida as Bali before tourism, because it is extremely quiet and is very wild. The island does not suffer from mass tourism and is considered a well-kept secret. The lush biodiversity will absorb you as much as its unusual history.
The history of the island is linked to black magic, some legend says that the last king of Bali was exiled to Nusa Penida after doing black magic, so the island is considered the island of wizards! But don’t be afraid because the island has a lot to offer you like the very famous Kelingking beach from where you can enjoy a bird’s eye view of its beach and turquoise waters, but for the more sporty among you there is a very dangerous path that will allow you to go down to the beach to enjoy the turquoise and refreshing water.
Even if, despised by many tourists, there are other paradisiacal beaches like Crystal bay where we snorkelled and admired the corals and its tropical fishes.
If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of Bali for a weekend and want to get off the beaten track, don’t hesitate, Nusa Penida is for you!
